Northern Gold

Northern Gold

Land Position being Expanded to Capture More of Gold-Producing NE Botswana cratonic terrain

  • Major gold-producing region in Botswana and western Zimbabwe
  • Strategic licenses covering portions of Botswana’s exposed granite-greenstone terrain
  • Francistown area known Au-Cu-Ni producing region including the major Monarch (Au), Mupane (Au), Mowana (Cu-Ag), Tati (Ni-Cu) and Selebi-Phikwe (Ni-Cu) mines
  • One Bullion PL153/2016 has artisan mining operations – grab samples to 6g/t Au
  • Prospective stratigraphy captured with other licenses
  • Needs state-of-the-art geophysics & geochem surveys

One Bullion wholly owned subsidiary Marcel Holdings Pty Ltd holdss four prospecting licenses; 235/2016, 153/2016, 012/2018 (Folio2) for precious, base and rare metals, as well as industrial minerals. The licenses covers 1187km2 in the north-eastern part of Botswana against the border of Zimbabwe.

The Northern Project features good access due to the main Francistown-Zimbabwe A3 highway and the areas’ active mining and farming operations.  Licence 153/2016 is accessible all year long via the A3 from Francistown. The other licenses can all be accessed with a normal vehicle on tar roads, but further travel and exploration in the interiors of the PLs requires a 4×4 truck. The roads are rural gravel with thick bush and large trees surrounding the road. Wild life is also present in the area.

The infrastructure in the exploration area is primarily rural with minimal development. There’s informal settlements with small scale farming in the area. The town of Tutume is central to all of the exploration licences and includes a shopping centre, banks, good accommodation and fuel stations.  The major city of Francistown offers all manner of support to exploration and mining operations in NE Botswana.  This area is well-serviced by major power lines due to the number of mines, and as well the national railway line passes through.

    Regional Geology

The Northern Gold Project licenses cover prospective portions of the Francistown and adjacent Mosetse complexes of Archaean Zimbabwe Craton rocks of ages between 2500 – 3500 Ma. This is overlain by relatively thin sequences of Kalahari cover – hence it is the most explored area of Botswana.

The Archaean basement complexes consist of metasedimentary and metavolcanic greenstone belts with intervening granite and gneissic terrains.  Post Archaean events are confined to major phase of faulting due to the late/post Karoo diabase dyke swarms. The dyke swarms trend at 110 degrees and 50 degrees.  The greenstone and schist belts present in NE Botswana are of similar scale to those across the border in Zimbabwe.

    One Bullion Activities

Field work was done on the Northern licenses from the 13 March 2019 to 16 March2019. This was an initial reconnaissance visit to collect as many samples as possible using aerial magnetic surveys from the council of geoscience in Botswana for focus. Geologist Corne Coetser was accompanied by One Bullion’s Country manager, Mr Kniepie Setlhare, to do community consulting in Maitengwe before we started.
